It was our pleasure to be involved and directly support the TeenTech #STEM festival MIRA Technology Institute. This was a fantastic initiative by Teen Tech for supporting local school students in science, technology and engineering challenges in developing the future of our industry.
This gave the students and teachers the ability to directly engage with industry employers and test their STEM skills against realistic engineering problems.
The Intrepid Control Systems engineering team developed a real-world use case for an interactive robotic vehicle networking problem which encouraged teamwork, project management and diagnostic solving skills.
The students were required to use Intrepid’s software and hardware solutions to resolve an issue with the robotic vehicle not being able to drive in a straight line. The solution required analysing and resolving the CANBUS network messages to correctly control the individual wheel motors to successfully drive it in a straight line. We’d intentionally made each half of the robot behave independently to add another layer to the challenge. We are proud to say all students who took part were successful in completing the challenge and surprised themselves with understanding a complex application within a very short period of time.
It was great to be part of such a fantastic event that clearly inspired the next generation of future talent.
